Maritime Operations Branch LogoThis school instructs its students in all phases of Maritime Operations, covering maritime equipment, tactics, missions, and organization. The Maritime Operations School is administered through the Office of the Commandant, STARFLEET Marine Corps Academy by the Maritime Branch Director.

Courses Available

MO100 Maritime Basic Course I: This is the first primary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to give the student an idea of some of the basics about Maritime Operations including its history, development, and traditions. Successful completion of this course allows the student to continue their studies within this branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100


MO105 Maritime Basic Course II: This is the second primary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to give the student an idea of some of the basics about Maritime Operations including its history, development, and traditions. Successful completion of this course allows the student to continue their studies within this branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO110 MOS Familiarization Course: This is the first auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the student aware of all of the various MOS’s available to Maritime Marines as well educate them on the courses they need to take for the various ratings available.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO111 Flight Deck Uniform Recognition: This is the second auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine aware of the different flight deck uniforms for quick recognition aboard aircraft carriers and very active flight stations. This would also be an ideal course for Aerospace students as well.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100 or AE100


MO120 Basic History and Traditions of Maritime Operations: This course is focused on the History and Traditions of SFMC Maritime Operations.  This course covers both real and fictional traditions of MO, including the fictional historical background of SFMC Maritime Operations and their real-life naval counterparts in Earth’s history.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO151 Maritime Vessel Familiarization Course: This is the third auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine more aware of the differences and technical aspects on the various ships and vessels that comprise the Maritime Branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO154 Maritime Replenishment Techniques I: This is the fourth auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine aware of the techniques and knowledge involved in Underway Replenishment Techniques, its dangers, advantages, and disadvantages.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO155 Maritime Replenishment Techniques I: This is the fifth auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine aware of the techniques and knowledge involved in Underway Replenishment Techniques, its dangers, advantages, and disadvantages.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100, MO154


MO156 Signals and Codes: This is the sixth auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine more knowledgeable in the use and deciphering of the various signals and codes used in the branch, as well as their history and evolution.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO201 Maritime Advance Course: This is the second primary course in the Maritime Operations Branch. This course will further test and challenge the student’s knowledge of Maritime Ops and delve into advanced techniques employed by the branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100


MO211 Maritime Tactics I: This is the seventh auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine aware of the various tactics used on the vessels employed by this branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100, MO201


MO212 Maritime Tactics II: This is the eighth auxiliary course in the Maritime Operations Branch series. It is designed to make the Maritime Marine aware of the various tactics used on the vessels employed by this branch.

Prerequisite for this course: PD100, MO100, MO201, MO211


MO301 Maritime Independent Study: For the final step in the Maritime Operations Branch studies the student must complete an independent studies project. The independent studies project must either consist of a paper or another approved project. The student MUST submit a topic or project description to the Branch Director for approval. Once approved the student will then have 10 weeks to submit their independent studies project for grading. After submittal, and if the student receives a grade of Honors or Distinction on a 301-level course, they will be issued an Academic Excellence Award.
